Anti-Colonial Praxis: Manazil al Qamar

I ended Part I with suggesting that the sticking point in the contrast between بيت beit and منزل manzil, the former being the word used to describe the houses of the horoscope based on the Solar Zodiac and the latter being the word used to describe the houses of the Lunar Zodiac, “is the difference in experience of the Sun and the Moon as planets and their significations, and how their knowledge and lessons are imparted onto us.”1 That difference can be very simply put, as wonderfully said by Al Qabisi: “The Sun represents spirit and the Moon represents thought.”2
